Ups and downs: Milestones
The Gasthof Cavallino Bianco is first mentioned in 1559. However, the real era of the Kühebacher family begins in 1759. The long line of ancestors produced some interesting personalities, such as innkeepers, much-travelled merchants, linguists and historians. Despite the fact that our family has had to suffer so many blows of fate, we never gave up and never lost sight of our goal.
1759: Michael Kühebacher purchases the Hotel Cavallino Bianco
1894: Great flood in San Candido
1st world war: the house gets destructed by an Italian grenade
1932: Great fire
1933: Start of a new era with the capable innkeeper Maria Kühebacher
1949 to 1980: Extension of the hotel and construction of the annexe
1980: Large fire in the main building
2000: Connection to the village’s heating plant, extension of the 3rd and 4th floor of the annexe with modern wellness facilities
2000 until today: Continuously improving quality
2014: Member of the “Locali Storici d’ Italia” (Historic Hotels of Italy) and award as “longest family-owned hotel in Italy”.
